What are the different tests Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offers for Covid-19?

Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offers two types of tests.

In-House Rapid Covid-19 test – It’s an antigen test that is done from a nasal swab, result is usually available within 1hr.  The test correlates well with molecular (PCR) test.

Covid-19 Molecular test – also known as RT-PCR test, is a nasal swab that is sent to a lab and results are back within 7-10 days. This test is more sensitive than the Rapid In-house test.

Both Rapid and Molecular test are swabbed the same way.  Secretion matters, and we may have to swab both sides of the nostrils.

What is the accuracy of the In-House Rapid Covid-19 vs. Covid-19 Molecular test?

This information is still evolving, but currently:

The In-house Rapid Covid-19 test correlates with the molecular test 96% of the time in finding patients that have the disease.

The Covid-19 Molecular test (RT-PCR) is by far the most commonly used and reliable test for Covid-19.

What should a parent expect when they arrive for a Covid-19 test?

Both the molecular and In-House Covid-19 tests consist of a nasal swab. Test quantities are limited. We perform 30-40 tests per day, on a first-come-first-served basis. Due to the high demand for Covid-19 testing, you may experience an average of 2-3 hours of wait-time.

Are all Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offices providing Covid-19 testing?

YES, all locations can perform rapid covid-19 test in the office from newborn to 21 years of age,  while supplies last, with same day results.

Can I bring my child just for Covid-19 test?

Yes, no referrals are required.

Can I make an appointment for the Covid-19 test?

Due to higher patient volume given the latest COVID-19 surge, we are asking patients to make an arrival time reservation prior to coming in. Please note this reservation is for check-in time only and is not a specific appointment time. COVID-19 testing visits will require a reserved check-in time. Book an arrival time now!

How long does it take to receive test results?

In-House Rapid Covid-19 test: The rapid test results are typically available within one to 2 hours, same day.

Covid-19 Molecular test: The molecular diagnostic test results are typically available in 7-10 days.

Who can be tested for Covid-19?

We are currently offering Covid-19 testing to our patients from Newborn to 21 years of age.

If your child has been at risk for exposure, whether he/she has had symptoms or not, a provider will evaluate them and will recommend testing for your child specific situation.

How much does the Covid-19 tests cost with insurance?

All insurances cover Covid-19 testing for suspected patients, patients under observation or patients that are exposure. For screening using private insurance, some are subjected to copay, coinsurance or deductible.

How much does the Covid-19 test cost without insurance?

Without insurance, the Covid-19 test is $160.00. You will be required to give a photo ID and sign an affidavit stating you do not have insurance. Once submitted to the government CARES act and confirmed your child is 100% uninsured, Night Lite Pediatrics will reimburse the $160.00.

What safety precautions are you taking to ensure the safety of patients visiting Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care for Covid-19 testing?

  • Every child and parent over the age of two must wear a face mask when entering our facilities. We are happy to provide one if needed.
    • If you are over 2 years old and have an upper respiratory issue or difficulty breathing please let us know ASAP.
  • We allow only one parent to accompany the child.
  • We encourage every patient to register online before their office visit.
  • We limit the time patients spend in our facilities by encouraging them to wait in their vehicle. Our team will call or come and get the patient when it is time for them to be seen.
  • Our medical personnel wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when we swab for Covid-19 or when evaluating a patient suspected of Covid-19. Our exam rooms and equipment are carefully sanitized after each visit.

If my child doesn’t have Covid-19 symptoms, should he/she get the Covid-19 test?

If you think that your child may have been exposed to Covid-19, or if you are concerned for any other reason, our pediatric doctors will recommend the right course of action for your child’s situation.
