What are the different tests Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offers for Covid-19?
Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offers two types of tests.
In-House Rapid Covid-19 test – It’s an antigen test that is done from a nasal swab, result is usually available within 1hr. The test correlates well with molecular (PCR) test.
Covid-19 Molecular test – also known as RT-PCR test, is a nasal swab that is sent to a lab and results are back within 7-10 days. This test is more sensitive than the Rapid In-house test.
Both Rapid and Molecular test are swabbed the same way. Secretion matters, and we may have to swab both sides of the nostrils.
What is the accuracy of the In-House Rapid Covid-19 vs. Covid-19 Molecular test?
This information is still evolving, but currently:
The In-house Rapid Covid-19 test correlates with the molecular test 96% of the time in finding patients that have the disease.
The Covid-19 Molecular test (RT-PCR) is by far the most commonly used and reliable test for Covid-19.
What should a parent expect when they arrive for a Covid-19 test?
Both the molecular and In-House Covid-19 tests consist of a nasal swab. Test quantities are limited. We perform 30-40 tests per day, on a first-come-first-served basis. Due to the high demand for Covid-19 testing, you may experience an average of 2-3 hours of wait-time.
Are all Night Lite Pediatrics Urgent Care offices providing Covid-19 testing?
YES, all locations can perform rapid covid-19 test in the office from newborn to 21 years of age, while supplies last, with same day results.
