Does Your Child Need a COVID-19 Test?
Does your child have symptoms of COVID-19 or have they been exposed to someone with the virus? Getting a rapid COVID-19 test for your child is the best way to rule out or confirm COVID-19 infection.
At Night Lite Pediatrics we provide rapid COVID testing in Apopka for children of all ages with same-day results. We are conveniently located at 620 S. Hunt Club Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703. We welcome walk-ins at all our urgent care clinics and you can also reserve a spot online for COVID-19 testing.
Children just like adults are susceptible to the COVID-19 virus. Children can also spread the virus to others even while having no symptoms so it is important to get your child tested if they have been exposed to someone with the virus.
It is recommended that you get your child tested in any of these scenarios:
- Your child has COVID-19 symptoms like shortness of breath, chills, fever, persistent cough or loss of taste or smell.
- Your child has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or someone who has symptoms of the virus.
- If you are not sure whether your child needs to be tested, you can call us at (407) 478-5955 or come to our clinic for a consultation.

Types of COVID-19 Tests
At Night Lite Pediatrics, we offer two types of COVID-19 tests:
- COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test
The antigen test is done by taking a nasal swab from the patient. The sample is then tested for the presence of any COVID-19 proteins.COVID-19 Rapid Antigen tests are fast and results can be ready in as little as an hour so with this type of test you will get same-day results.
The COVID-19 antigen test is not as accurate as the PCR test but it is effective in detecting infection and can be used for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test
The COVID-19 PCR test is a molecular test that detects the presence of viral genetic material in the sample. During a PCR test, a nasal swab will be taken from the patient and sent to the lab for testing.
PCR tests are the most accurate form of COVID-19 testing but results can take up to 3-5 days. The PCR test can detect active infections even when the viral load is low since it is a highly sensitive test so it works even in patients with no symptoms.
What To Expect When You Come For A COVID-19 Test?
When you bring your child for rapid COVID-19 testing, we will provide the test at our clinic’s curbside. This makes the process quick and efficient and also reduces the risk of exposure for your child.
The Night Light Pediatrics clinic in Apopka welcomes walk-ins but you can book a slot online for a more streamlined process. You do not need a referral to bring your child for COVID-19 testing.
Once you arrive at our clinic, you will need to check in with the front desk with your insurance card and photo ID. Our staff will then guide you on the next steps.
At Night Lite Pediatrics, we take measures to ensure a safe testing environment for all our patients. We ask anyone visiting our clinics who is 2 years or older to wear a face mask. If you do not have a mask, our staff can also provide one for you.
