Is My Child Vulnerable to COVID-19?

You can book a test online or walk in to our clinic to have your child tested for COVID-19. Our pediatric experts are available to answer any questions you may have regarding COVID-19 testing.
Children can get infected with the COVID-19 virus if they are exposed to someone with the virus or come into contact with contaminated surfaces.
Although the severity of COVID-19 in children is typically less than in adults, children can transmit the disease to others even when they do not have any symptoms.
COVID-19 symptoms in children can be similar to other illnesses which can make it difficult to confirm infection without a proper COVID-19 test.
When Should My Child Get Tested For COVID-19?
COVID-19 testing is a minimally invasive procedure that can be done at the Night Lite Pediatrics clinic curbside.
Bring your child for a test in the following instances:
- If your child has COVID-19 symptoms such as shortness of breath, a persistent cough, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting or has lost their sense of smell and taste.
- If your child has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or someone who has symptoms of infection.

What Types of COVID-19 Tests Are Offered At Night Lite Pediatrics?
The testing procedure for COVID-19 can be done using two types of tests.
Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test
The antigen test for COVID-19 checks for the presence of COVID-19 proteins in the patient sample. When you bring your child for a test, we will take a nasal swab to get the sample for testing.
The COVID-19 antigen test gives results in as little as an hour so results are received within the same day. This test is best when the patient has recently developed COVID-19 symptoms but it can also be used for asymptomatic patients.
COVID-19 Molecular Test /PCR test
The molecular or Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is the most accurate COVID-19 test. It can detect an active infection including variants like Omicron and Delta. The PCR test involves taking a sample from the patient using a nasal swab and then sending the sample to the lab for testing. PCR test results can take 3 to 5 days.
