Should my child be tested for COVID-19?
Night Lite Pediatrics can see patients from newborns to young adults aged 21. If you believe your child has been at risk of exposure, and even if your child doesn’t have any symptoms, you can have your child evaluated at our clinic. We’ll provide a test if necessary.
Should my child get tested for coronavirus even if they don’t have any symptoms?
If there’s any reason for you to believe your child may have the virus, you can speak with us or come see us and we’ll help you decide whether to have your child tested.
What tests are there for COVID-19?
There are two tests that we offer at our clinic. The first is the COVID-19 molecular test, also known as the RT-PCR test. It’s a nasal swab test with results available within several days. The second test is the rapid COVID-19 antigen test. It’s also a nasal swab. Although it isn’t quite as accurate as the molecular test, it offers same-day results.
How long does it take to get the results of a coronavirus test?
COVID-19 molecular test results become available in between 7 to 10 days, and rapid COVID-19 antigen test results become available within 1 or 2 hours.
How accurate are the coronavirus tests?
The COVID-19 molecular test is the most common and most reliable test for the virus. However, the rapid COVID-19 antigen test correlates with the molecular test 96% of the time, making it almost as accurate. Both tests are very accurate and reliable.
How much does the COVID-19 test cost with insurance?
All insurances cover the cost of the test for suspected patients, patients under observation, or patients possibly exposed to the virus. For screening through private insurance, certain services may be subject to copays, coinsurances, or deductibles.
How much does testing cost without insurance?
The government pays for those patients who are fully uninsured. Here at Night Lite Pediatrics, we participate in the government’s CARES Act which allows these patients to get tested for the virus. These patients must provide us with a photo ID and sign an affidavit stating they do not have insurance.
Can I bring my child in for only a COVID-19 test?
Yes, you can, and a referral is not required.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No, you don’t. An appointment isn’t necessary, so you can come visit us in-person for testing at our clinic’s curbside.
Are all of Night Lite Pediatrics’ locations offering testing?
Yes, all our locations are providing testing. You can go to whichever location is closest to you. Please see our Locations page for our locations’ addresses, hours of operation, and contact information.
What safety precautions is Night Lite Pediatrics taking?
We’re taking the following precautions at our clinic:
- We’re encouraging parents to register with our clinic online before they come see us
- We’re asking that every parent and their children over the age of 2 wear a face mask when coming into our facilities; we can provide a mask if necessary
- If your child is older than 2 years of age and having an upper respiratory issue or any trouble breathing, please let us know right away
- We’re allowing only one parent to accompany a child, which can help to reduce potential exposure at our clinic
- We’re limiting the time our patients will spend in our facilities by encouraging them to wait in their vehicle until it’s time for their evaluation
- Our medical personnel are wearing personal protective equipment during their evaluations and testing of our patients
- Our exam rooms and equipment are being sanitized for each visit
What should I expect when I come in for a COVID-19 test?
The two tests we provide are both nasal swabs. We’ll provide the test you need at our clinic’s curbside in order to protect you and your child from potential exposure to the virus, and to protect our other patients and our staff. We ask that you try to understand that tests are limited in supply, provided on a first-come-first-serve basis, and may have wait times of 2 to 3 hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
