Anxiety is multiplied by the uncertainty of what the results will be and how they will impact your life, especially when it involves your children. At Night Lite Pediatrics, we are happy to provide rapid COVID-19 testing to any child under 21!
Do I need to make an appointment for rapid COVID-19 testing at Night Lite Pediatrics?
No appointments or doctor’s referrals are needed! At Night Lite Pediatrics, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis with walk-in appointments only. However, if you are coming for a rapid COVID-19 test, we kindly ask that you call us when you arrive for an appointment and wait in your vehicle before we are ready to see your child for rapid COVID-19 testing. Due to the limited testing quantities and high demand for COVID-19 testing, you may experience higher than regular wait times of up to two to three hours, unfortunately. We encourage you to register your child online before calling using our online registration forms to save you time. In between each test, we thoroughly sanitize and disinfect the testing rooms and equipment to minimize any cross-contamination and potential spread of the novel coronavirus. We apologize for this inconvenience and promise to see your child as soon as we can!
How is rapid COVID-19 testing done?
Rapid COVID-19 testing takes nasal swabs to check for the COVID-19 antigen in mucus secretions. These swabs are placed on a paper strip that is fixed with specific antibodies inside a plastic casing. If the swabs contain the COVID-19 antigen, they will bind to the antibodies and trigger a visually detectable reaction. This reaction usually occurs within thirty minutes of taking the swab and mixing it with the paper strip.
What should I expect when bringing my child in for rapid COVID-19 testing at Night Lite Pediatrics?
After you arrive at the Night Lite Pediatrics parking lot and call us to let us know about your testing appointment, we will have you wait with your child until we are ready to see them. If you haven’t already, we recommend using our online registration form to register your child during this time. When we are ready to bring your child in for testing, we will call you, and a support staff will come to show your child to the sterilized testing room. There, a pediatric nurse donned with all of the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will take the nasal swabs to conduct the test. Once the swabs have been taken, your child can return to your vehicle with a support staff’s help, if necessary. We will call you with the results once the test has been completed.
When can I expect to get rapid COVID-19 test results back?
With rapid COVID-19 testing, you can expect to hear back from us about your test results within one to two hours! That said, rapid COVID-19 tests are most reliable with positive results. As a result, some negative tests may require further confirmation with a molecular or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. We will let you know if we need further confirmation of your results when we call you to tell you your results.
